Introduction
This report is based on a project where the scope and integration management will be evaluated and understood in detail. Scope and integration management is very important concept associated with handling the project because it will consider all the elements of managing the project through which the success of the project can be achieved. Every project can only be considered if there is a pre established scope and planning procedure. Integration management will help in evaluating the performance of the project and the interconnected projects can only be managed with the help of appropriate channelling amongst them. There are number of stages which are handled by the organisation while completion of the project and it can only be handled with the best management strategies. In this report BGC Construction Company will be discussed and evaluated in detail. A project of this company which is known as Sino iron construction of warehouse, workshop and roads will be discussed for understanding the scope of project management and integration. This project was established on a very large platform and this project was completed with the 100% success rate. While completion of the project number of challenges associated and the managers of the project have successfully met all the challenges and fulfil the targets.
Description of the project
BGC is commonly known as Buckeridge Group Of Companies and it is a private corporate group which works for construction and building activities. This company has been in market since 1960 and is the largest privately owned companies in Australia in the construction industry. Due to some family quarrels there were major legal cases which were going on about the company. This company has been in the market for a period of time and they have completed various large projects while maintaining the high level of efficiency. This company has been in the industry of construction for a period of time and they also deal in products such as concrete, windows, roofing, bricks and home building materials (Kerzner, 2017). In this report the major project by the company which is Sino iron construction of warehouse, workshop and robots will be disclosed through which project integration can be observed. While completion of the project there are a number of stages which takes place and supply of various activities needs to be taken care of so that the project can be completed without any delay. The roles and responsibilities of the project are delegated to skilled and efficient team members who will look after all the activities of the project completion. This company contracted successfully for construction of the warehouse, workshop and roads and this project was completed in association with Australia has largest magnetite mining and processing operational unit. This company provides assistance and guidance for structural, mechanical and piping, electrical, instrumentation, communication, road network and expansion of various activities associated with the project. This company have developed the relationship with CITIC mining on the project so that successful working can be observed. The BGC contacting team have maintained the collaborative approach for problem solving and issue resolution so that the challenges can be faced efficiently and professionally.
Literature Review
The process of project completion is converting a vision a dream or a need to a reality so that end result can be achieved. Project management is the activity which includes performance, scope, cost, quality and time duration of the project. There are number of elements which need to be fulfilled for completion of the project on time (Schwalbe, 2015). Application of knowledge, skills, tools and techniques to a project will help in meeting the requirements of the people associated with the project which are majorly known as stakeholders and they will be served with the expectation which they have been developing. Requirement of the project is generated by the people associated with the project and who are working on the project so that a planning and guideline can be developed for achieving the targets within the given period of deadline. The expectations associated with the project are understated and unidentified at the initial stages. Completion of the project on time within the given period of budget without compromising the quality is proper description of project management. Project management is an art which needs to be fulfilled by the project manager and he will definitely plan and assess the resources which are required for completion of the project.
There are number of responsibilities which will be delegated to different team members so that the level of efficiency can be maintained throughout the process of the project (Heagney, 2016). To lead a project the team members will effectively communicate with each other so that the desired outcomes can be achieved and the task can be completed on time. There are various challenges associated with project management which needs to be fulfilled so that the level of efficiency can be managed and lack of visibility on project procurement can be eliminated. It becomes a responsibility of the project manager to handle all the activities associated with the project successfully so that the existing project can be completed properly and all the priorities can be objectified. Development of appropriate communication channel needs to be established so that roles and responsibilities can be assigned to the team members (Leach, 2014).
There are number of activities which needs to be fulfilled for completion of the project such as the initiation phase, planning phase, executing phase, closing phase and monitoring and controlling phase. All the stages of the project needs to be completed on time so that the planning process can be executed in the same way as desired by the organisation. The most important phase of any project is the planning stage where the objectives of the project will be evaluated and the requirement of project will be established so that a direction can be said for achievement of the targets. All the activities of the project will be scheduled according to the priorities and the consultation with the team members will be developed. Planning and scheduling faces are undertaken before the actual project starts and this will help in achieving the target design by the project manager (Walker, 2015).
Integration management
Performing integration management in a project will definitely help in developing the interconnected this within the project so that all the activities can be unified and set of activities can be established for achieving the target successfully. It will definitely focus on enhancing the effective execution of all the roles and responsibilities associated with completion of the project so that the project manager is able to fulfil all his duties appropriately. The project manager will be responsible for developing the integration of the project so that the roles and responsibilities can be delegated to various team members and large scale projects can be successfully accomplished (Lientz, & Rea, 2012). The project lead and the sponsors will continue to monitor the entire project so that uncertain situations can be eliminated at the initial stages and interconnected projects can be unified for effective results. Integration of the project will definitely help in achieving the quicker results and economic activities can be focused so that the best output can be generated in the least resources possible. Project integration management is all about maintaining equilibrium in all the areas of the project so that the best quality results can be provided and the interconnected process can be maintained throughout the project. Necessary changes can be scheduled according to the project and increase in various project activities can be observed so that the deadline can be met.
BGC and integration management
BGC is a company which is established on a very large platform and they have been conducted various projects which are linked to each other. When the company is established on a very large platform then they will have to assign roles and responsibilities to various departments and all the departments need to be integrated with each other so that the end results can be compiled. This will definitely help in increasing the platform for the company where they can diversify various tasks and achieve the integrated results while incorporating additional scope after the project is initiated (Marchewka, 2016).
Findings
When the interview was conducted with the project manager then all the questions were answered with complete confidence and high amount of accuracy. The project manager was highly in favour of scope and integration management for the organisation because they understand the importance of integration management and they cannot handle any large scale project without integration management. The project manager is able to handle the complex projects only with the help of project integration management and scope of the project. The project manager has also stated that with the help of integration management he is able to schedule and identify the cost of all the activities associated with the construction project so that lack of finances can be eliminated (Verzuh, 2015).
The quality of the project can only be maintained with the help of appropriate project integration management. The changes can be adopted successfully with the help of project integration and it has been stated by the project manager himself that they are able to implement the changes effectively without affecting any other department only with the help of project integration management. This will influence various other activities of the project and at the same time it can also keep a track of everything which can influence the performance of the project. The project manager has stated that they can perform the integrated change control management system with the help of proper evaluation and analysis through which the managing of the project work and become simpler.
The project manager finds it simpler to integrate the project with various other activities and resources so that the competitive activities can be accomplished successfully. Thorough analysis will help the project manager to identify the impacts of the decision across the entire project so that the key step towards project success can be achieved (Harrison, & Lock, 2017). The project manager have said that the can also identify the risk factors associated with the project with the help of project scoping. The project manager has disclosed that they have used the tool of project charter and integrated change control system to handle the performance of the project through which they are able to evaluate the growth and understand the requirement of future regarding the project.
The project sponsor is the person who will own the entire project and he will provide all the financial resources for the project. When the interview was conducted with the project sponsor it has been identified that if they adopt project integration management then they do not have to manage the day to day operations of the project and they can handle the entire project to the manager. The project sponsor will not show active participation in the project but he will definitely keep a check on the performance of the project and it can only be done with the help of integration. Integration will help in handling the project without being a part of it on a regular basis because a connection will be generated (Fleming, Q. W., & Koppelman, 2016, December). This will definitely help the owner of the project to keep a check on the performance of the project and evaluate the growth of the project from time to time. According to the project management body of knowledge the project manager will provide various resources and support for the project, program for portfolio so that the success can be enabled and desired outcomes can be achieved within the given period of time. The project sponsor would use the tool of project monitoring so that he is able to evaluate the growth and mistakes in the project.
The project sponsor have stated that he has to face various problems associated with government projects but with the help of integration and evaluation of the future the company is able to handle the government projects successfully. The project sponsor have a clear vision regarding the responsibilities associated with the project and he has stated that he always wants to be informed about the project event so that appropriate criteria can be set for the success of the project. The vision of the project sponsor is to make sure that the business case is valid and authentic so that the future legal issues can be avoided. The project sponsor needs to be informed about the project and updates regarding the variables which are taking place in the surroundings (Eskerod, & Jepsen, 2016).
The clients do not have much to say about the project integration but they also feel that a systematic approach for completion of the project will definitely help in minimising the chances of loss and threat with the project. The project management will definitely help the project manager for delivering the desired outcomes to the clients as stated by the most important client of BGC. The clients have also stated that you are highly satisfied by the services offered by the company and they have also estimated that the company is definitely using high quality integration system through which they are able to provide effective and 100% results to the customers. With the help of satisfactory customer reviews it has been evaluated that the company has been using the integration management with complete accuracy and effectiveness.
The customers of the company have disclosed that they have never registered any single complaint regarding the performance of the company and they have always been delivered with expected results. The company have disclosed that they have been using the best management systems so that they can finish the target on time within the given budget so that the customer does not have to be troubled (Burke, 2013).
Conclusion
This report is based on a project which has been completed by BGC. All the elements of the project have been disclosed in this report with the help of set of questions which have been interviewed. Detailed literature review have been disclosed and mentioned in the report through which better understanding can be developed regarding the completion of the project. There are various elements which are associated with the project on the basis of which the project is directed towards the success. For the completion of the finding section the project manager, the project sponsor and the customers of the company have been interviewed and it has been asked to them about the integration management associated with the project. Positive responses have been gained from the people who have been interviewed for completion of this report. The project has been established on a very large scale and it becomes important for the project manager to delegate roles and responsibilities to various team members and integrate all the activities that monitoring process can become easier. The project lead and the sponsors will continue to monitor the entire project so that uncertain situations can be eliminated at the initial stages and interconnected projects can be unified for effective results.
